Who We Are - Mission

The Forest Products Industry National Labor Management Committee is a non-profit trust, formed to pursue the common public policy interests of the working men and women in the forest products industry. The Committee's mission is based on a single goal: balancing environmental concerns with economic realities.

Influencing the Future

Expanding Political Support
The Forest Products Industry National Labor Management Committee's political strategy is simple: working together, labor and management can communicate a common message more effectively than either group working alone. The unified labor management effort continues to build coalitions with influential allies, strengthening grassroots activism in support of balanced policy.

Humanizing the Issue
The Committee emphasizes the human costs of ill-conceived public policy decisions. The costs may be local – the mass unemployment that leads to economic devastation in rural communities. Or they can be broad ranging – affecting industries such as construction, paper and furniture manufacturing and social issues like housing supply and affordability.

Participating in the Political Process
With Committee support, union and management leaders have met face-to-face with key legislators, testified at Congressional hearings and worked with government leaders to craft new solutions. The Committee also has initiated grassroots lobbying and letter-writing campaigns throughout the labor community.
